ARBITRATION COURT.
AWARD FOR JOURNALISTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Feb. 25. The Arbitration Court has issued an award in connection with the Auckland journalists’ dispute. The memorandum saye the Court made several alterations in the provisions of the former award. The principal changes are: An increase of 5s a week for general reporters and substantial increases for readers, who now receive “the wages and conditions provided for linotype operators in the. typographical award.” The grading of readers has been abolished, but provision is made for a “reviser” at £3 8s per week. Wages of readers will be: First reader, day £6 3s, night £6 13s; others I £5 13s and £6 3s. Readers will also [receive an additional 10s for work on Saturday night editions. The rates are inclusive of all bonuses The award will come into operation on March 6. THE BONUS QUESTION. Christchurch, Feb. 25. The Arbitration Court proposes to make a general pronouncement on tl 3 bonus question on receipt of certain information from the Government Statistician, which is expected to come to hand about the end of next month. Following upon this general ponouncement the parties A'ill be given an opportunity of being heard before the Court in Wellington, before the final order is made. The hearing will take place probably towards the end of April, and any general order made by the court will operate as from May 1.
