HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER.
THE ARAPUNI SCHEME. DEVELOPMENT URGED. By Telegraph.—-Press AssociaUoz. Wellington, Last Night. The fear held in Auckland that the Government neglecting tfie interest* of that district to the advantage of those in the south in regard, to hydroelectricity wa-s referred to at the Industrial Corporation conference by Mr- F. W. Hills, one of the northern delegates. “We don’t begrudge those districts that already have hydro-electrical schemes,” said Mr. Hiß*. “We aay more power to them, but we do want to see something done at Arapuni.” Mr. Hills moved that the Government be urged to proceed with the development of hydro-electric power simultaneously in all parts of the Dominion, so that primary and secondary industries may have every advantage in competing with foreign countries. “We should see that a fair deal i* given to Auckland in the interests of the whole Dominion,” remarked Mr. J. A. Frostick (Christchurch). “Auckland has power; there is no doubt about that, and the Government should make it available at the earliest possible moment.” Delegates from all other proviuem heartily supported the motion, which was carried unanimously.
