DEFICIT OF £2,000,000. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrlgtt. Received Feb. 22, 5.5 p.m. Capetown, Feb. 21.. Introducing additional estimates in the Assembly, the Minister of Finance said the deficit for the current.year was £2,000,000. Customs had fallen off £1,000,000 and the collapse of the diamond market had involved heavy losses. He believed it would be wrong to tax the people and the only alternative was to reduee expenditure.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
