SWIMMING.

TUESDAY’S CARNIVAL. Much interest is being evinced in the forthcoming visit of Misses P. Hoeft and Page, the two Auckland champion lady swimmers at' the New Zealand National Championship meeting recently held. Miss Hoeft won the 100yds. ladies’ championship in the New Zealand record time of 67 4-5 secs. Miss Page won the 75yds. and 100yds. intermediate girls’ New Zealand championships, establishing a New Zealand record for tte latter event. The opinion is held by leading swimmers that Miss Hoeft will develop into a world's record breaker. She will probably be one of New Zealand’s representatives at the next Olympic games. A carnival programme has been drawn up for Tuesday evening, and the visi|ors will compete in several of the events. The club 13 desirous of encouraging sdh'ools’ swimming, and for that purpose has included four secondary and primary schools’ events in the programme. No entrance fees are being made for the junior schools’ events. Entries for all events close on Saturday at 8 p.m., and it is expected that record entries will be reNEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. Several swimming and diving events were decided at ti e municipal baths on Tuesday evening, the trophies being provided out of the grant which the Borough Council has authorised Mr. Day to spend in encouraging swimming. The entries, however, were not so iargg as had been hoped. The events decided wereBoys' 66 2-3 yards.-—M. Julian 1, Early 2, Petty 3. Six started. Men's 66 2-3 yards—A. H. Blennerhassett 1, D.
