MOTOR FATALITIES.
ECHO OF AUCKLAND CASK DANGER AT TRAM STOPS. By Telecraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The trial of a taxi-driver named Russell Bedford Graham, for the alleged manslaughter of a little girl, who was run over by a motor-car in Maud* kau Road on November 19, concluded * at the Supreme Court to-day. a retirement of three hours the jury returned a verdict of not guilty, but the jurv was of opinion that accused committed an error of judgment in not applying his brakes immediately he saw the child. The jury added the following rider: “The jury unanimously agrees that m consequence of the frequent accidents recorded by motor-cars passing stationary tram-cars, and the ignoring by motorists of the present variable bylaws, it deems it urgently necessary that all local bodies having control of roads should form uniform by-laws to prevent any motor-car passing a stationary tram, except at such inter-s«C' tions as are under the control of a police officer. Mr. Justice Stringer remarked that it was a very sensible rider, and he would be pleased to forward it to the authorities.
