ALLEGED BURGLARY.

RETRIAL OF COULTER BROTHERS. CASE STILL PROCEEDING. The retrial of Bernard Coulter and Arthur Coulter on a charge of alleged breaking and entering at Eltham on the night of November 30 last, >vas begun in the Supreme Court at New Plymouth yesterday afternoon. The ease was heard last Friday, but the jury dieagreed. The scene of the alleged occurrence was the Bon Marche drapery shop (conducted by Mr. A. E. Waugh). The elder brother, Bernard, was further charged with assaulting Adam Rae, a nightwatchman employed by the Eltham Chamber of Commerce, and Bessie B. Scott, who was accompanying Rae on his round at the time the incident is alleged to have occurred. Mr. C. H. Weeton appeared for the Crown and Mr. P. O’Dea represented the two accused.

The following jury wae empanelled: Messrs. F. A. Hooker, F. D. Payne, W. Mason, W. H. Hancock, E. G. Pearce, F. W. Bull/L. R. Jury, F. Brenmuhl, W. Bint, Robt. McDonald, A. P. March and A. W. Lock. Mr. Payne was chosen foreman.

Mr. Weston outlined, the case on the lines of the previous trial. The first witness was Henry Frederick Williams, an assistant employed by Mr. Waugh, who gave evidence as to the use made of certain packing cases. Adam Rae, the nightwatchman, was then called and repeated the evidence he gave at the original trial. At 5.30 p.m. the Court adjourned until this morning.
