FISHING PARTY ADRIFT. By Telegraph Pre” Association Wellington. Feb. 20. On Saturday afternoon three residents of Lyall Bay went out in a boat on a fishing expedition and were not heard of again until 'Sunday, when a telephone message came from Eric Riddiford’s station at Orongorongo, stating that the boat had drifted ashore on the coast and the occupants, one of whom was a lad of 17, had walked to the station, where they had been fed and had rested. On Sunday afternoon at 3.30 they left the station, intending to walk through Gollin’s Valley, 15 miles to Eastbourne, where they would catch the ferry steamer for Wellington, but so far they have not arrived. There are no details available as to how the boat got out of hand. Later. The missing fishing party arrived home this morning, not much the worse for their perilous adventure. ARRIVAL OF ATHENIC. Wellington, Feb. 20. The Athenic /arrived here this morning from Southampton. The berthing of the vessel was delayed till late in the afternoon on account of an outbreak of influenza on board. The influenza was reported to be of a mild nature and of about three days duration, being prevalent among the third-class passengers. The. last ease occurred on February 5. The vessel brought 300 immigrants. The Health Department precautions include taking all temperatures before the Customs and immigration officers are allowed on board. The vessel is to be fumigated.
