Twenty canvases by Millet, the painter of the famous “Angelus,” have been discovered in the attic of the Town Hall of Cherbourg, of which town he was a native. They are estimated to be worth at least £2OOO apiece. Officials from the Louvre have gone to Cherbourg to prevent the paintings leaving France.
