AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Feb. 19, 5.5 p.m. Melbourne, Feb. 19. The ladles' 100 yards swimming championship of Australia was won by Miss Mina Wylie In 69 2-ssec. LADIES* LIFE-SAVING CLUB. At tlie Municipal Baths on Saturday afternoon a number of competitions were held by the New Plymouth Ladies’ Life-Saving Club. Ideal weather prevailed, and the events attracted a good number of entrants. The results are: Life-Saving Event (flrst method of release, first method of rescue).—Miss A. Smalley 1, Miss G. Lovegrove 2, Miss 0. Penman 3. Object Diving.—Miss Penman 1, Miss Smalley 2, Miss North 3. Maiden Race.—Miss T. Stone 1, Miss M. Boop 2, Miss I. Lovegrove 3. Costume Race.—Miss A. Smalley 1, Mlsa Hartnell 2. Egg and Spoon Race.—Miss North 1. THE TABOR SHIELD. The annual competition for the Tabor Shield life-saving competition will be held at East End on Saturday. The North Taranaki LifeSaving Centre have received entries from four teams—'East End “A" (the holders). East End “B”, and Old Boys "A” and “B”. The event for primary schools teams has drawn a good enquiry, and it is hoped that about twelve teams will be competing. VISITING CHAMPIONS. Advice has been received >by the New Plymouth Amateur S niming Club that Misses Hoeft and Page, two of New Zealand’s leading swimmers, will be visiting New Plymouth on Tuesday, 28th inst. A special carnival is being arranged, at which the visitors will compete. Details will be published id a day or two.
