A CURIOUS TRADITION.

THE PRIVACY OF AN ESTATE. STRANGERS SHOT AT SIGHT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Feb. 19, 55 p.m. Berlin, Feb. 18. Tie curious habits of a Junker family named Von Kahne were revealed in the Potedam Court. The family consista of the grandmother, husband and wife and their son, and they live in a castle commanding the south-western approaches to Berlin. Motorists and pedestrians are obliged to pass through the park, but the Von Kathnes objected and pounced upon wayfarers, holding them up at the revolver’s point. In one case the seventytwo year old grandmother pursued a motor car on horse-back, firing an automatic revolver. She ateo sprayed pasters with a garden hose, while the son shot a man through the lung and left him lying in the snow. The family was fined the equivalent »f £l3. They pleaded it was the family’s tradition to carry revolvers and shoot when necessary. The villagers threaten to burn down the castle unless the shootings cease.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable
