NEW PLYMOUTH SCHEME. PROGRESS OF OPERATIONS. The monthly report of the consulting engineers (Messrs. Blair Mason, ls?e and Owen) on the progress of the New Plymouth hydro-electric extensions Sta Contract No. I.—A few boulders remain to be removed from the river bed at the intake. When this is completed and the tunnel ia cleaned out this contract will be complete. Mangamahoe pipe line.—The excavation work here is practically complete and the saddles will now be placed in position in readiness for the contractors. , 1 Tunnel No. 2.—Excavation and concreting of this tunnel is being continued. For the month just past 479 feet has been excavated, 364 feet lined completely and 128 feet of invert only. Penstock pip e line. —Excavations work at the top of this line is 'being carried on by three small shifts. On the bottom portion over half the concrete saddles are now in position,
