NEXT YEAR’S FIXTURE. NEW PLYMOUTH SELECTED. By Telegraph.-—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. There was a large attendance at the band contest to-day. Results:— Solo, under 17, any instrument.—G. Begerson (Palmerston’North) 92, 1; J. Wills (Invercargill Hibernian) 92, 2; R. Mitchell (Palmerston North) 91, 3; P. Hayes (Auckland Artillery) 90, 4. Eleven others competed. Tenor horn solo.—H. Wills (Invercargill Hibernian) 95, 1; L. Ormrod (Wellington Watersiders) 94, 2; G. Wilson (Woolston) 93, 3; C. Hansen (Nelson Garrison) 92, 4. JJine other competitors. The second A grade test resulted.— Queen Alexandra’s Own (Wanganui) 186 points, City 184, Waterside Workers (Wellington) 183, Canterbury Mounted Rifles 183, Wanganui Garrison 180, Woolston 179, Second Otago Battalion 175, Hastings 174, Invercargill Hirbernians 174, Auckland Artillery 173, Wellington Artillery 172, Wellington Tramways 171. Tlie aggregate for the two test selections was won by Wellington Watersiders with 363 points, Woolston 358 points second, Wanganui Garrison 350 points third, Wellington Tramways 348 poins fourth. At the annual meeting of the North Island Brass Bands’ Association twenty bands were represented. It was stated the membership was now fifty, an increase of 25. Regret was expressed at the Nelson conference proposal for a Dominion Association being defeated and it was hoped that before long the object would be attained. The South Island Association advised that to avoid dates clashing they had decided to hold their contest at Dunedin in February next year. Officers were elected as follows: — President, Mr. L. Cohen; secretary, Mr. F. Seddon; treasurer, Mr. J. Meuli; executive, Messrs. Trussel, Humphreys, Anderson (Wanganui); Williamson (Auckland); Catley (New Plymouth); Young (Master ton); Holben (Palmerston North); -Conghien ( Waipukurau); Crozier (Marton); Liardet (Wellington). THe next contest is to be held at New Plymouth.
