TAfIANAKI’S HINTERLAND.
A PROPOSED TOUR. Some months ago the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce decided to pay a visit tc Ohura and other parts of the province’s hinterland. The date has now been arranged? The party will leave New Plymouth early on the morning of Wednesday, March 8; reach Tahora before luncheon, and inspect the railway works and proposed railway route in the afternoon, thence proceeding to the Ohura through the Tangaras.au Gorge. Th night and the following day the dv. uiation will be the guests of the local settlers. Thursday is Newton King’s, Ltd., sale day, and it is hoped to meet all the principal settlers, and in the afternoon to motor to various points of the district. Next morning (Friday), the party will visit the railway works at MatiereOhakakura, and then proceed to Awakina via Piopio; inspect the road deviation works in the Lower Awakino Valley, arriving at Mokau that evening, when the local settlers will be met. Next day will be spent, in inspecting the district’s coal, limestone and other resources. A start will be made for home at 6.30, arriving back in New Plymouth a few hours afterwards.
