A message from Monte Video reports that after the State ceremony the body of Sir Ernest .Shackleton was conveyed to the whaler Wodviell, ex-servicemen acting as pall-bearers. The British Charge d’Affaires, English officials and a number of people from Buenos Aires followed the remains, and the cortege was escorted by a guard of honor of Uruguayan lancers. The streets were lined with soldiers carrying old flags used in the War of Independence. The funeral service was read in the English chureh. The coffin, which was covered with the Union Jack, was a rough wood en one, inscribed: "Ernest Henry Shanckleton, died 5/1/22.” There were wreaths from his wife and family, the Uruguayan Government and from Sir Ernest Shackleton’s mother. —Aus.-N.Z.
