RIFLE SHOOTING.
TARANAKI MEETING TO-DAY. The Taranaki Rifle Association’s meeting opens at the Waiwakalho range to-day. The entries are somewhat disappointing, and it is probable that the whole programme will be got off to-day. With that end in view a full staff of markers has been engaged. The meeting will be under the general supervision of the president. Captain Hartnell, with Lieut. Andrew, V.C., and Mr. Lysons as range officers. The trench officers are Captain Boon and Mr. Roper. The secretary will have the assistance of the' late secretary and Mr. Smith, M.P. Although the entries are small they’ are widely distributed, from Auckland in the north to Blenheim. Among the competitors are Rifleman West, of Renwicktown, the runnerup for the Dominion championship. President Causley, Thames, the winner of the Auckland championship at the recent association. Rifleman Roots, the holder of the Association Belt, and many others.
