WATCHMAKERS’ CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, Feb. 14. The fifth annual conference of the New Zealander Retail Watchmakers’ and Jewellers’ Association opened to-day. The visitors were welcomed by the Mayor, the proceedings not being open to the SHEEP STEALING ADMITTED: Wanganui, Feb. 14. Matthew Mulcahy, a young farmer, pleaded guilty in the S.M. Court to stealing 200 sheep in April last at Ruatiti, his partner, David Hyde, also pleaded to receiving the sheep, knowing they were stolen. Both were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. . . j - a. EXCESS OF GLAXO. Palmerston North, Feb. 14. At the recent meeting of the directors of the Glaxo Manufacturing Co. (N.Z.), Ltd., it was reported that the manufacture of Glaxo on this side of the world had this season already exceeded the similar manufacture for the whole of last dairying season. The powder manufactured to date was almost 25 per cent, more than the manufacture to the-’same period of last season, which increased production represented about 1000 tons of Glaxo. In the circumstances it had been decided to cease the manufacture of Glaxo and turn attention to other milk products for the present and probably continue until the end of the present dairying season. INVERCARGILL FIRE INSURANCES. Invercargill, Feb. 14. The insurance on Broad and Small’s brick store which was destroyed by fire last night was £6OOO on stock and £3OOO on buildings. The loss over insurance is estimated at £2OOO on stock and £lOOO on the building.
