RAILWAY CUT.
AUCKLAND-WELLINGTON TRAINS. .1 SECOND EXPRESS WITHDRAWN. By —Press Assoclat.on Wellington, Last Night. The Hon. D. H. Guthrie (acting-Min» ister for Railways) has announced that in addition to the curtailment of the express services of the South Island it has been decided to further reduce the services on the Auckland-Wellington line by withdrawing the second express trains which at present leave Wellington at 8.35 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and which leave Auckland at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The reduction will come into operation on Monday, as in the case of the amended time-table in the South Island. Mr. Guthrie stated that detailed information with regard to alterations of the time-tables on branch lines in the South Island, rendered necessary by the amended express services, was not yet available for publication,* but it was anticipated that the work would be completed within a day or two.
