Or ders for papers may also be left with thecD GENERAL ITEMS. Feb. 13. A man named James Fatt was admitted to the Stratford Hospital on Saturday afternoon, suffering from an injury to the head, as the result of a fall from a cart in Broadway. The accident occurred early in the afternoon near the Post Office. It appears that Fatt was in the act of descending from the vehicle when he slipped and struck his head on the pavement. He was taken to the shop of Mr. W. A. Brown, chemist, and attended to by Dr. Doris Gordon, afterwards being taken to the hospital. Inquiry to-day elicited the information that he is progressing favorably. The Stratford Technical High School was shifted to the new building to-day. The furniture which was in use in the old school will be used until the new furniture arrives. At a recent meeting of the School Committee the new headmaster pointed out that the school is a “technics! high school”, and not merely a “technical school”, the two terms indicating entirely different grades of scholastic establishments. Mr. Amess said that he wished the difference to be recognised by both the pupils and the public. j The annual school picnic /to Ngainotu Beach will take place next Thursday, and some indication of the large attendance which is expected is given when it is stated that 1750 tickets have been issued for sale. Two special trains will accommodate the holiday-makers, the first, which is a non-stop, leaving at 7.30 a.m., and the second, which will pick up passengers at Midhirst, Tariki and Inglewood, leaving at 9.13 a.m. The return journeys will be made at 5.10 p.m. and 5.40 p.m., the first train being again a non-stop. The Retailers’ Association intimates that business premises will be closed all day on Thursday.
