Reade, of Rotorua, has given the Admiralty the Holbrook estate, in Suffolk, which is valued at £30,000, for the benefit of Greenwich Hospital. A FOOLISH UNDERGRADUATE. London, Feb. 9. An Oxford undergraduate has confessed that he sent chocolates to the Vice-Chancel-lor dusted with powdered glass. He pleaded that he did not know it was dangerous to life. He has been granted a pardon. AMERICAN NAVY YARDS STAFF. Washington, Feb. 9. Mr. Denby, Secretary for the Navy, has ordered an immediate reductioh in the employees at all the navy yards where warship construction is in progress. This affects men at Philadelphia, New York, Maria Island, California, and Norfolk, where ships are building, also' the Boston and Charleston yards, where armor-plating is made.
