SHOP LIFTER GETS PROBATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Feb. 11. Charges of shop-lifting from seven shops against Ethel Murphy, married woman, aged 20, and Lena Farrell, a young married woman, for receiving the stolen goods, created considerable interest at, Court to-day. The value of the ptolen goods aggregated over £5O. Murphy pleaded guilty, and was admitted to two years’ probation and ordered to pay the expenses of the prosecution. Farrell received the benefit of the doubt on the grounds that she did not know the goods were stolen at the time she received them. A charge in regard to unidentified goods in thjp hands of the police was held over.
