GERMAN REPARATIONS.
LITTLE MONEY FOR NEW ZEALAND. MR. MASSEY’S PREDICTION. The Prime Minister stated in the House of Representatives that he did not think much German reparation money would be coming to New Zealand this year. France and Belgium had priority. It had been suggested that New Zealand should take something less than the amount actually owing .by the Germans, but he did not think that the opportunity for any arrangement of the kind would arise. If he could get 10s in the £1 cash down he would be prepared to recommend Parlament to accept it. But under present conditions New Zealand would have to be patient. He thought that the Dominion would continue to get a share as long as payments were being made by the Germans, but he had a strong opinion that the arrangement would not last over many years. He believed that the arrangement with the Germans would be changed or modified. He wanted all that he could get on behalf of New Zealand, but he was not very hopeful
