TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. OPENING TO-MORROW. The Taranaki croquet tournament, the first provincial fixture of this kind, will be commenced at the Park Club’s lawns. New Plymouth, to-morrow. The grounds, which are situated at Pukekura Park, are reported to be In splendid playing order, and the pleasant surroundings of this site should afford much enjoyment to both players and spectators. Entries for the tournament are most encouraging, and the gathering should give a general impetus to the game. The Taranaki Association has worked assiduously in ensuring that all arrangements are made for the running of the tournament, and, favored with fine weather, a successful meeting should be assured. It is expected the play will extend until Saturday. In addition to players from the Park, Fitzroy and New Plymouth Clubs, contestants from Hawera, Stratford and Waitara will participate. The official opening will take place at 2 o'clock to-morrow afternoon.

It is desired that competitors should be on the ground and ready for play punctually at 9.30 each morning. The committee regrets that arrangements for the elctrie 'bus to convey players to the lawns each morning could not be made.

It has been decided in the teams matches that the gainer of the highest aggregate points in the finals will be the winner.
