Y.W.C.A. The monthly meeting of the Board of the Y.W.C.A. was held on Wednesday, February 8, at the hostel. There were present: Mesdames E. A. Walker (in the chair). W. Ambury, Blundell, List. Mills, Mac Diarmid, C. H. Weston and Miss Rough ton. Apologies were received from Mesdames Alexander, A. Ambury and Miss Harrison.

Mrs. Skinner wrote resigning from the Board of the Y.W.C.A.. as she would be away from New Zealand for some considerable time. Mrs. Skinner’s resignation was received with much regret. and the hope expressed that she would again accept nomination for the board on her return to New Zealand. A letter from an appreciative guest to the hostel during the Christmas holidays was read, sending the committee warm congratulations on acquiring such a beautiful hostel for the girls of the town, and congratulations to Miss Rough ton for her most efficient management. Miss Roughton reported that 126 visitors had been accommodated, including girls attending teachers’ examinaand mothers with young children. Beds had been made up in the office, in sitting rooms, and on the balcony, but it had been impossible to accommodate all who applied. In some instances rooms had been secured elsewhere. Care was always taken to receive any young girls travelling alone. A number of association girls from other parts of the Dominion had stayed at the hostel. Both the lunch room and rest room had been made use of by country visitors.

Miss* Roughton expressed her gratitude to the friends who had so kindly sent gifts of fruit and flowers.
