The chauffeur said that at the New Year Mabel Normand and Taylor had a violent quarrel, after which Taylor broke down and wept. Next day he took a gift of jewellery to Miss Normand, who admitted having exchanged valuable gifts with Taylor and also that they were very close friends, but denied that she was engaged to marry him.
