AUSTRALIAN MATCH DRAWN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Feb. 7, 10.35 p.m. Sydney, Feb. 7. The concluding day of the match, Australia v. The Rest of Australia commenced in fine weather and on a good wicket. The Rest of Australia had five wickets down for 302 when the innings was declared closed (O’Keefe 144, Love 63, Willis not out 31). Bowling analysis : Macdonad, one for 52; Ryder, two for 42; Malley, one for 81; Macartney, one for 26).
Australia in their second innings had four wickets down for 260 (Gregory 4, Macartney 9, Andrews 45, Collins 117, Ryder not out 65). Bowling analysis; Hornibrook, three for 106; Scott, none for 168. The match was drawn. O’Keefe played a careful and slow innings, which occupied 269 minutes, during which he hit only six fours. Play generally was very keen, but during Australia’s second innings Scott caused a slow rate of scoring, bowling the off theory, frequently right off the wicket. Gregory attempted breezy play, but was caught in, the slips. The others were content to bat carefuly.—-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
