MAGISTRATE’S COURT. Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M., presided at a sitting of the Hawera Magistrate’s Court yesterday. OLLIVER v. LONG. The evidence of plaintiff was heard in the ease of J. Olliver (Mr. Beechey) v. B. R. Long (Mr. O’Dea), in which the sum of £l9 was claimed for payment for work done in enlarging and retouching pictures. The evidence of i the defendant is to be heard at Dargaville, or some other suitable place. Plaintiff stated that he had been working for Long for about nine months and had worked on and delivered several lots of pictures for him. The claim was for one lot of pictures which, plaintiff alleged, had been delivered and paid for. UNDEFENDED CASES. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following cases: —N. Madsen v. S. Anstis, £lB 18s (costs £3 16s); C. H. H. Jan.es v. Dick Bishop, £ll (costs £3 16s); Curtis and Spragg v. J. Riley, £8 13s (costs £1 5s 6d); Farmers’ Co-op. v. H. G. Hall,* £1 19s 6d (costs 10s fid); C. E. Brooke v. Woolfe, £l3 Os 6d (costs £3); same v. J. Neilson, £2 14s 2d (costs £1 8s fid); F. G. Fairey v. George Cadman, £4 10s Id (costs £1 8s fid); G. R. Horsburgh v. F. A. de ’Chateau, 17s fid (costs 8s).
In the judgment summons case John Cli ambers and Son v. H. G. Hall £4 15s 3d, an order was made that the amount be paid forthwith, in default five days’ imprisonment, warrant to be suspended for a week.
