As a result of their horse slipping on the tar macadam on Broadway South this morning a man and woman were thrown out of a gig on to the road. Fortunately neither was injured beyond receiving bruises. There was a big crowd of visitors to the Ngaere Gardens yesterday, when the Eltham Pipe Band and Eltham Brass Band played enjoyable programmes of music. The majority of the visitors Were from Eltham, the Stratford quota numbering fewer than was expected for such a fine day. The appearance of an aeroplane over Broadway this afternoon created a great deal of interest. The birdman first appeared from the south and circled round the vicinity of Victoria Park at a low altitude, later flying north and round the western side of Broadway to the south of the town, landing somewhere near at hand.
