BIG MATCH IN AUSTRALIA. THE SECOND DAY’S PLAY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Feb. 5, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, Feb. 5. The cricket match, Australia v. the Rest of Australia was resumed in showery weather. Australia has sLx wickets down for 227 (Bardsley 25, Collins 41, Macartney 47, Andrews 30, Gregory 1, Taylor 19, Ryder not out 44, Oldfield not out 9). Play was stopped by rain four times, and the ground was treacherous.

Macartney played the innings of the day, delighting the spectators with sparkling and crisp shots, and scoring at a fast rate. Collins was always at home to the bowling; he was very confident, and did not hurry his innings. Bardsley was disappointing. Ryder is apparently well set, and looks like making a big score.

This match was commenced on Friday. The Rest of Australia made 393 in their first Innings. NORTH TARANAKI COMPETITIONS. SATURDAY’S GAMES. O’Donnell gave a great exhibition of hitting, knocking up 30. M. O’Donnell had reached 15
