BIG STRIKE THREAT.
WAGES DISPUTE IN GERMANY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Berlin, Feb. 1. The National Union of Railwaymen representing 260,000, ordered members to cease work at midnight unless wages were practically doubled. The Government replied by forbidding State servants entitled to permanent employment and pensions to strike, and threatening prosecution witn heavy fines or imprisonment for any ‘who strike or hamper the working of the railways.
The authorities have arrested two strike leaders and confiscated the union strike funds amounting to several million marks.—Aus.-N.Z Cable Assn.
