STINNES AND RATHENAU. ANIMOSITY CULMINATES. STINNES FORCES A CRISIS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Feb. 3, 8.10 p.m. London, Feb. 2. The Daily Express’ Berlin correspondent states that the animosity between Herr Stinnes and Herr Rathenau has reached a head. Stinnes regards Rathenau’s Foreign Ministryship as a personal affront.
It is reported that Stinnes prefers a French occupation of the Ruhr to a Wirth Ministry including Rathenau, with the financial reforms which Rathenau favours.
Other Rhineland industrialists, however, support Rathenau, being ala'med at the possibly occupation of the Ruhr district.
The People’s Party have informed Herr Wirth that they cannot support the Government any longer. This is interpreted as Stinnes’ declaration of war against financial reform.—Aus.-N Z. Cable Assn.
