EGMONT RACES. CONCLUDING DAY’S RESULTS, MARQUETEUR WINS AGAIN. The Egmont Racing Club’s summer meeting was concluded yesterday, under fine weather conditions and in the presence of a good attendance. Despite the rain of the previous night, the course was in good order, and interesting racing was witnessed. Fields, with the exception of the Hawera Stakes, in which .only two competed, were good, and finishes were on the whole close. Mr. Coyle had so well concealed the than in only two handicap events did riders of first favorites salute the judge. Speculation, though a long way below last year, was brisker than the previous day, £26,037 being put through the machine, as compared with £46,366 for the same day last year, a decrease of £20,329, making a total for the two days of £49,487, compared with £91,025 last year, a decrease of £41,538 on the meeting. The principal event, the Atkinson Memorial Stakes, went to Marqueteur, who won the same event in 1919, the Egmont Cup winner running a good race. Gloaming had no trouble in winning the Hawera Stakes. As on the first day, the officials all attended to their duties well, a word of praise being due to the courteous secretary, Mr. V. B. Stratton, and his staff.
