LONDON WOOL SALES. By Telegraph —Preis Assn.—Copyright. London, Jan. 30. At the mixed wool sale some free merinos were withdrawn owing to tie high reserves. B.A-.W.R.A.’s merinos were all sold. Cable Assn. LONDON MARKETS Received Jan. 31, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 30. Canadian wheat sold at 51s. The cargo market is firm. Shippers are asking Is to Is 6d above late rates, but there are numerous resellers. A small experimental shipment, from New South Wales, of frozen pigeons, was very satisfactory. The bulk fetched Is 6d each, but a few sold at Is. Smithfield salesmen were pleased at the size and quality, and they think a good business will be possible, especially in the summer time. The general tone of the market has of late showed, a considerable strengthening, particularly so with sheep, a sharp rise being recorded for this class in consequence of the improved rates now offering for fats We held our first steep fair at Okau on Friday last, when n good yarding was fully cleared at the hammer, and at prices in every instance well in advance of vendors’ reserves. Fair ’ business is reported in the cattle business, but the prices are at a low ebb. The demand is strengthening every day, especially for young, cattle for the back country. At Urenui on January 23 store cows made 20s 6d, 30s, forward do. £2. At Stratford on the 24th inst. lambs made 7s 7d, 9s 3d, inferior do. 4s 6d, weaker heifers 14s, springing heifers £lO, fat cows £2 IGs, £4 3s. At Inglewood on the following day 2-tooth wethers made Ils 3d, weaner keifers 14s 6d, > 15-month do. 265. At Rahotu on January 26 l«-month steers made 23s 6d, forward cows £1 18s, £2 10s, fat do. £3, £3 l’ss, £4. At Okau sale and sheep fair on January* 27 lambs made 8s 4d, 9s 4d, 9s lid, cull do. 4s 3d, mixed sexed 2-tooths 8s 3d, 10s 9d, 2-tooth wethers 9s lOd, 4 and 6-tooth do. 10s 4d, 12s 4d, 12s Gd, fat and forward ewes 9s lOd, 10s 4d, 4 and 6-tooth ewes 9s ,7d, sound mouthed ewes 7s 3d, 8s 4d, 9s lid, failing mouth do. 4s 4d, 2-year steers £1 17s, 3%-year do. £2 17s, store cows 23s 6d, forward do. £2 10s.
