GENERAL ELECTION.
REPORTED BEING PLANNED FOR APRIL. ’ 1 LABOR'S BID By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copjrfijh* Received Jan. 31, 9.10 p.m. London, Jan. 31. The Daily Herald states authoritatively that owing to Cabinet dusen* sions over the House of Lords veto, a general election is being planned for April. It is significant that Mr. Henderson, speaking at Manchester, delivered a full-fledged policy speech in a moderate tone, and declared that Labor stood for international peace, the - restoration pf stable economic and political conditions, and international friendship and confidence. The Labor Party, he added, favored an all inclusive League of Nations, a drastic reduction in armaments, no secret treaties, recognition of thei independence of Egypt, and the genuine self-government of India. It is daily becoming more apparent that the moderate Labor element has won the upper hand in the party machine.
