SOUTH AFRICAN LABOR.
MORE DRASTIC TERMS. TALK OF GENERAL STRIKE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Capetown, Jan. 29. As a result of the failure of the conference the Industrial Federation is lightening the regulations against free labor. The Chamber of Mines has announced new terms which are much more drastic than formerly offered, involving a reduction of the ratio of Europeans to Natives, a reduction of the cost of living allowance by 50 per cent, now and its entire abolition six months hence, and no guarantee of re-employ-ment of all strikers. There is a rumor that the Federation intends to retort with the declaration of a general strike. The outlook is regarded as grave.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
