SCHEME NEARLY COMPLETE.

AWAITING LEGISLATION.

(By Wire—Parliamentary Reporter.; Wellington, Last Night. The meat pool committee has been sitting frequently this week and is now awaiting the passing of legislation creating the board of control and giving it the necessary powers. This legislation is expected to be before the House during the next few days. A member of the committee stated to-day that in the meantime farmers who desired to pool their meat and dispose of it through the board should hang it up in the works to await the establishment of the board. He thought that the board WouMT'tw in esastence within a fortnight. IMPROVEMENT IN THE MARKET. Wellington, Last Night. Replying to a question in the House to-day, Mr. Maesey said the recent improvements in the meat market were undoubtedly due to the < operations of the meat pool. Legislation was being prepared in connection with the pool, and would be brought down before this session closed. Mr. Massey said he had seen a cabled report of President Harding’s advice to farmers to go in for the co-operativo marketing of produce. This, he thought, was a compliment to New Zealand, because President Harding was evidently asking the farmers of . America to adopt methods similar to our meat pool.
