NURSERYMEN’S CONFERENCE
FIREBLIGHT COMPENSATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The nurserymen’s conference resolved: “That the conference regrets the delay by the Government in paying compensation to those nurserymen who have been debarred from selling their fruit trees in the fireblight area and hopes that it will soon be paid; that the supporters of public gardens be asked for their sympathy and help in the elimination of all inferior varieties of roses in future plantings.” Officers were elected as follows: President, A. W. Buxton (Christchurch) ; vice-presidents, Messrs. V. C. Davies (North Island) and T. D. Lennie (South Island); treasurer, Mr. A. W. Hamilton; secretary and organiser, Mr. G. A. Green; auditor, Mr. R. D. Brown (Hastings). The conference has closed.
