INDIAN UNREST.
DOMINION STATUS CLAIMED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Washington, Jan. 24. Mr. Savri, speaking before the unofficial national council on reduction of armaments, said India desires the status attained within the British Empire of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. “We hope and trust,” he said, “that the new spirit in the world which is receiving sanctification at this conference will be the means of our progress towards that status and will be marked by peaceful constitutional means.” He concluded by proclaiming the greatness of Mr. Gandhi, but asserted that the latter was without political sense, therefore he was leading the people of India along a false road of opposition to the Government of the British Empire.— Aus.-N.Z.
