TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. OPENING OF PLAY. YESTERDAY’S RESULTS. I Bowling greens in New Plymouth yesterday were occupied by the rinks engaged in the Taranaki tournament, and the first and second rounds were played during the day. The greens were very hard and free. The wind proved a source of trouble to practically all the bowlers, and some of the heads presented a scattered appearance. In spite of this disadvantage, however, some good play was witnessed. The number of rinks engaged (68) is a record for the centre. The details of yesterday’s play are as follow: SECTION A.
