TARANAKI COMPETITIONS. SATURDAY’S GAMES. The Saturday lawn tennis games resulted in Inglewood defeating Park No. 2, New Plymouth defeating Waitara B, and Sportsdale . (Stratford) defeating Park No. 2. PARK NO. 2 v. INGLEWOOD. The match between New Plymouth Park No. 2 team and Inglewood was won by the latter, who secured 18 out of the 19 sets, winning 148 games against the Park representatives’ 71. The gcores are given as follow, the Park team being mentioned first in each instance; — Men’s Singles.—C. Doreen 2 lost to Grant 9; F. Shearer 3 lost to Wagstaff 9; B. Boon 3 lost to Carmine 9; P. Hobson 5 lost to Armstrong 9; W. Ladner 4 lost to Patterson 9; L. Williams 3 lost to Kendrick 9.
Men’s Doubles.—Doreen and Shearer 5 lost to Grant and Carmine 9; Boon and Hobson 5 lost to Wagstaff and Patterson 9; W. Ladner and Williams 3 lost to Armstrong and Kendrick 9. Ladies’ Singles.—Miss Malcolm 2 lost to Mrs. Grant 7; Miss Heal 4 lost to Miss B. Nutting 7; Miss Levestam 4 lost to Mrs. Smith 7; Miss Dell 3 lost to Miss F. Nutting 7. Ladies’ Doubles.—Misses Malcolm and Heal 7 beat Mrs. Grant and Miss B. Nutting 4; Misses Levestam and Dell 4 lost to Mrs. Smith and Miss F. Nutting 7.
Combined Doubles.—Doreen and Miss Malcolm 3 lost to Grant and Mrs. Grant 7; Shearer and Miss Heal 2 lost to Wagstaff and Miss B. SPORTSDALE v. PARK NO. 1. At Stratford the match between Sportsdale and Park No. 1 resulted in a win for Sportsdale. NEW PLYMOUTH v. WAITARA. At Waitara on Saturday a B grade team from New Plymouth met a local team, the result being a win for New Plymouth by 15 sets and 138 games to 3 sets and 101 games.
