New York, Jan. 18. Charlie Chaplin lost 100,090 dollars owing to the recent failure of the financial house of Wagner and Co. JAPAN’S SILK' MARKET. Tokio, Jan. 18. The dependence of Japanese commerce upon America was indicated when a rumor that American silk buyers had boycotted Japanese silk on account of the high prices caused the Yokohama market to drop eight points, causing a temporary flurry, but the market quickly steadied. The rumor was due to a New York Japanese Consular report outlining certain dissatisfaction of American Buyers at the state of the Japanese market.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. PRICES IN BRITAIN.
