LABOR TO HAVE A VOICE. NEW CONTROL IN BRITAIN. By Telegraph.—Pr*ss Assn —copyright. Received Jan. 18, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 18. The Daily News states that the general managers of the various railway companies, after many months’ negotiations, ratified a draft agreement providing for the creation by each railway company of five sectional councils, representing the five groups into which all railway employees will be divided. These councils will be composed of equal numbers of representatives of the railway companies and the trade unions, and will be empowered to deal with wages, hours, conditions of labor and discipline; also the promotion of cooperation in increasing business promoting efficiency, economy and suggestions regarding the operating of the railways. The agreement comes into force on April 3 and will mark the greatest advance yet made on a big scale towards industrial organisation in which the workers will have a definite voice in fixing the conditions of labor.; —Aus.-N.Z.
