ARBITRATION ACT.
AMENDMENTS OPPOSED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Jan. 18. At a meeting of union secretaries and representatives held to consider proposed amendments in the Conciliation and Arbitration Act, it was decided to recommend the Canterbury Trades ana Labor Council to summon a meeting of union delegates for Saturday. It was also resolved: “That this meeting views the proposed amendments as a travesty on democratic principles, and if the Government persists in forcing its proposals we are determined to obtain justice for the men we represent by all the means we can command.”
