BACK BLOCKS MISSION.

The secretary of the Backblocks Mission (Mrs. H. Pehu), wishes to most cordially and gratefully thank Mrs. Donds, of Uruti, for 'the hospitality to the Archdeacon and visiting clergymen anti the other visitors who patronised the Uruti bazaar on December 16th. The committee are deeply grateful to Mr. A. Smith, ’bus proprietor, Uruti, for the free carriage of goods; to Miss N. Thomson, of Awa-kino, who collected the sum of £2; to the Urenui people for their splendid gift (per Mrs. Pigott), to Pukearuhe (per Mrs. Freeth) for its money donations and splendid produce; to Waitara for suit case of beautiful bazaar goods, and also to the many little boy and girl friends all over the province who sent, per Mrs. C. H. Burgess, gifts for little backblocks children. The secretary has had quite a busy time distributing these, and only . wishes she could send some of the smiles and thanks back to the givers in exchange. The housewives of Uruti were most generous with their donations of homemade bread, buns, cakes, etc. The domaud for these was enormous—Uruti is famous for its cooks—-and the stallholders had sold out of eatables quite early in the afternoon. Dairy butter was hnicb in demand, also chickens, ducks, etc.

The name of one of the most energetic workers at the bazaar, Mrs. Boyes, was inadvertently missed out in last report. It has been decided not to hold the next bazaar till February, 1923, so that New Plymouth committees, whose work makes this bazaar possible, will have plenty of time to turn round in. Any enquiries addressed to the Archdeacon of the province (“Tirohanga,” New Plymouth), or the organising secretary (Mrs. H. Larsen, of Pehu), wilf be gladly
