The Commerce Department's figures show a big decrease in American trade for 1921. Imports total 2,508,000.000 dollars, against 5,278,000.000 in the previous year. Exports were 4,481,000,000. ‘against 8,228,000,000.—Au5.N.Z. Cable Assn. BRITISH TRADE RETURNS. London, Jan. 13. The Board of Trade returns show the principal decrease in imports to be grain and flour £7,470,000; meat, £5.172,000; non dutiable food and drink £5,712,000; raw cotton, £708,pnn. ■"'■nufactured oils and fat, £4,082,000. ....(•ng exports coal decreased £3.9/8,000; iron and steel, £3,900,000; cotton yarns, manufactured, £9,298,000: and'woollen worsted yarns manufactured £3,87V>.000. AUSTRALIAN LOANS. z London, Jan. 13. A Commonwealth loan will be advertised on Sunday. The final instalment of 40 per cent, will bo payable on March 23. and six months’ interest will be paid on September 1. The Australian Press Association learns that New South Wales was listed by the underwritters for a three million loan this* week, but the New South Wales Government unexpectedly requested its postponement, whereupon the, vacant date was offered the Commonwealth Government, which promptly accepted upon 48 hours’ notice. Received Jan. 15, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 14. The Financial News states that the Stock Exchange is inclined to think the terms offered for the Commonwealth loan are not overmenerous. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. ALBURY WOOL SALES. Sydney, Jan. 14. Wool sales at Albury attracted a large attendance. Yorkshire and American buyers obtained the bulk of the offerings.’ All the lines appreciated live to twenty per cent. Experts declared it the best show of district wools ever offered at Albury. THE DAIRY PRODUCE MARKET. Messrs. Oollett and Co.. Ltd., have received the following cable advice from their British principals: Creamery butter, 128 s to 130 s. Whey butter, 102 s to 104 s. Colored cheese 84s to 80s. WBiite cheese S4s to S6s. The market is steady. LONDON WOOL SALES. The Department of Agriculture hasreceived the following cablegram, dated the llth inst., from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: “Wool sales opened yesterday. With very large attendance from all sections of trade. Fbme and Continental, competition ruled keen throughout and practically whole of offering cleared. Prices all round show considerable advance on closing rates , last series, merinos realising 10 to I's per cent,.,

This week’s offering B.A.W.R.A. will consist of:—Australian: Merino, creasy (>,500 bales, scoured 1.700 bales; crossbred’s, greasy 1.990 bales, scoured 300 bales. New Zealand: Crossbreds, greasy 3.100 bales, scoured 1,050, shpe 1,200 bales.
