THE BUTTER MARKET.
HOME MARKET STABILISED. GOOD TRADE ASSURED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrlgl t Received Jan. 15, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 14. The newspapers have published a statement cabled by the Australian Cooperative Societies criticising the action of the butter trade in purchasing the Government stocks. The Australian Press Association had an interview with a leading importer, who said the Government butter had been bought in the interests of the trade generally, including co-operative shippers. There was always the possibility of reaction *in the market while the Government stock was available foi anybody to purchase, but n6w, taking into consideration the prices paid foi. the Government stocks by merchants and distributors, the market is stabilised and a good trade is assured to Australian and New’ Zealand shippers generally, without any possibility of th< market slipping back. Some co-opera tive agents realise this and appreciate the value of the action taken by th* trade.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
