SPRINGBOK ATHLETES.

THE NEW PLYMOUTH VISIT. PROPOSAL TO ALTER DATE. The tentative itinerary for the. Dominion tour of the' South African athletes, as recently published, provides -for three members of the team to visit New Plymouth on Wednesday, February 8. The New Plymouth Amateur Athletic Association, however, considers that a more suitable date would be Friday, February 10, as this is the day between the two-day autumn meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club. Accordingly a wire has been sent to the secretary of the New Zealand Council or Amateur Athletics, pointing out this fact, and hoping that, as the itinerary is as yet elastic, satisfactory arrangements can be made to arrange the New Plymouth visit for February 10. The Boys’ High School grounds have been secured for the occasion. Tt 1s proposed to arrange seating facilities for spectators on the outside of the ground, and keep the inside of the course free from encroachment by the public. To allow spectators a good view it is hoped to have the finishing tape for the circular raees in»front of the school, and riot further round.towards the gully as previously. The tiers of seats at the Recreation Grounds have been kindly placed at the disposal of the club for the use of the public.
