. GIRL’S BODY RECOVERED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Foxton, Jan. IF. The body of the girl Laura Henskie, who was drowned, while bathing on Sunday, was recovered by dragging last night. At the inquest this morning a verdict of accidental drowning was returned. MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED. Hamilton, Jan. 11. A motor cycle ridden by David. Noakes, aged 30, a single man employed by the electrical branch of the Public Works Department, skidded in the sand on the Hamilton-Cambridge road and crashed into a motor lorry coming in the opposite direction. Noakes was seriously injured and removed to hospital, where he died. The two passengers in the side-car were not injured. SURF BATHER DROWNED. Auckland, Jun. 11. George Higgott, aged 21, was drowned while surf-bathing at Muriwa! beach on the West Coast yesterday. He was well out in the surf accompanied by his younger brother, Hartley, when a big breaker caught tae two, the backwash sweeping them further out. The danger was observed and a fishing line thrown out to them. Hartley wound the line round his body and made a game effort to reach his brother, who was further out. He threw the end of the line to within five yards of the struggling man, who could not reach it, and was carried away by a strong undercurrent. Hartley’s strength failed, and he was drawn in by the line and lifted out unconscious. Efforts to recover the body of George failed.
