NORTH POLAR AIR CURRENTS. INTERESTING RESEARCH. B, Telegraph.—Frets Assn.— Received Jan. 10, 9.35 p.m. New York, Jan. 10. Amundsen has announced that he wiH shortly start on a five-year trip, drifting over the roof of the world from Alaska to Norway. He expressed the opinion that the North Polar air cur-
rents affected the weather all over ike world, and he will try especially to study currents during the drift, aa well as currents under the surface of the Polar eeas and the ice. He added:— “Perhaps this knoVlodge will enable ve to prophesy the weather of the woridk for a long time in advance, in order that farm operations and other pursuits may be benefited.”—Aus.-N.Z.
