SWIMMING.

NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the New Plymouth Swimming Club was held last evening. Preliminary arrangements were made for holding a club carnival on Thursday evening, January 26. A liberal programme was drawn up and will be published later. An attempt is to be made to send a representative team to the championship meeting at Wellington early in February. Intimation was received that Mr. Knox, English delegate to the Royal Life-saving Society, would hold examinations at the baths on Tuesday, January 17, under the auspices of the local branch of the R.L.S.S., and it was decided to augment the programme by holding four swimming events—one I each for ladies and boys and two for men.
