WAR IN TURKEY.
THE ATTITUDE OF FRANCE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Jan. 8, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 7. A White Paper has been issued, giving the correspondence between the British and French Governments respecting the Angora Agreement. It shows that both Governments have now agreed. It is not a treaty of peace, and does not imply any recognition of the Angora Government, the agreement having purely local scope. France reserves the question of peace with Turkey, and will refuse facilities for any military action in the agreed territory under the British mandate.
The rumor regarding a French loan for the supply of munitions to the Kemalists is baseless. France admits the principle of adjusting in the final treaty of peace the different agreements negotiated, and is also ready to collaborate in the work of mediation between the Kemalists and the Greeks, in which Italy and Britain are as-sociated.—Aus.-N.Z.
